To obscure the physical form and objective of architecture and to neglect cultural results lead to a superficiality understanding of architectural history. Cultural approach to history and architectural history will throw light on the study of the architectural history of Iran and enlighten some dark corners in the field of history. In the first step the authors will introduce the approach to cultural history by surveying the evolution of this approach and development. After this survey and introduction, the common features of all kinds of cultural history are considered. Then the feasibility of applying this approach to the architectural history of Iran is evaluated. The last section of this paper contains some suggestions for studying the cultural history of Iranian architecture. The Authors’ method in this paper is to study the scientific system of history and architectural history. معماری بیش از آن‌که محصول تصمیم یک یا چند فرد باشد، محصول فرهنگ جامعه است. بسنده کردن به شناخت کالبد و جسم معماری و غفلت از پیوندهای آن با فرهنگ به سطحی‌نگری در تاریخ معماری می‌انجامد. تاریخ فرهنگی رویکردی در تاریخ و تاریخ معماری است که اگر به مطالعات تاریخ معماری ایران وارد شود، می‌تواند آن را ژرف‌تر و برخی از زوایای تاریک آن را روشن کند. در این مقاله، نخست رویکرد تاریخ فرهنگی را، از طریق بررسی سیر تحول این نوع رویکرد و آثار آن، معرفی می‌کنیم. به دنبال این بررسی و معرفی، ویژگی‌های مشترک اقسام تاریخ فرهنگی را برمی‌شماریم. آن‌گاه امکان استفاده از این‌رویکرد را در تاریخ معماری ایران می‌سنجیم. بخش آخر این مقاله حاوی پیشنهادهایی برای مطالعه تاریخ فرهنگی معماری ایران است. https://www.chistorys.ir/article_205153_3f90e53f09060b6b86f3757b506e95d2.pdf
