Cultural and religious influences have always been an integral part of relations between different nations and ethnic groups. In ancient times, in addition to the existence of wars and bloody struggles, cultural and civilizational connections, whether desired or not, were always ongoing and influenced the identity and personality of ethnic groups. The art of illustration is one aspect in which the extent of these cultural and ritual connections and influences can be observed. Because Art is always one of the first windows that connects different people with each other. The Mannaean civilization, which existed in the northwestern regions of the Iranian plateau in the early first millennium BC, was located in the neighborhood of the Assyrian and Urartian states and was influenced by them in terms of culture and civilization. By artistically examining the motifs drawn on the glazed bricks of the Qalaichi site, we can understand the form and extent of these influences. The brick motifs are a vivid expression of Mannaean art and culture, telling us about the myths and rituals of that era. In this study, two types of motifs from this precious collection are subjected to artistic interpretation: the bird with human head and the winged human motif. Both motifs are common among ancient Near Eastern civilizations and are seen in the artwork and visual works of various cultures in this region; For this reason, research on such ancient data can shed light on many issues. These ancient images are analyzed and studied using Erwin Panofsky's three-step method of iconography and iconology to clarify their artistic style, superficial meaning, and deep meaning, and through this, a gateway to understanding part of the history and culture of the Mannaeans is will be opened. The mythological features and icons depicted on the glazed bricks of the Mannaeans indicate the great influence of the art and culture of their neighbors, especially the Assyrians and Urartians. Using this method of artistic analysis, it is possible to identify various mythological and ritual elements that have permeated the visual art of this civilization and reflect the cultural richness of these peoples, and to further clarify the paths of intercultural communication in past eras.
