Authors

Abstract
During the long reign of the Qajar dynasty, the government officials looked to the West and made changes in society that affected the general public. But, Shiite religious scholars distinguished themselves by maintaining their historical clothes. The purpose of this article is to investigate the reasons for the monopoly of robes by this segment of society. The study seeks the question that  why and how this kind of cloths became known as the special clothes of the Shiite clergy in Iran?  The author argues that in order to undertand this topic, we should distinguish between the official and unofficialpments clothes in the Qajar era. The research through the descriptive-analytical method shows that by changing the official clothes of the court that the middle class of urban society followed, the appearance of the people changed. But religious clerics were distinguished from others by practicing their cultural background and strengthened the symbolic sign of this group in Iran.
