About the Journal:
The Quarterly Journal of Cultural History Studies is published with the aim of contributing to the production of research articles and enhancing the knowledge of higher education graduates/students and researchers in the field of Cultural History.
Cultural history is one of the neglected areas in the field of History and, more broadly, within the humanities and Iran’s humanities academic community. Cultural history is an interdisciplinary field that derives its identity from the collaboration and interaction of disciplines such as History, Anthropology, Sociology, Cultural Studies, and similar fields. Among the various branches of the humanities, Cultural History is most closely related to sociology, history, and cultural studies. Cultural History seeks to examine history and culture through an interdisciplinary lens, viewing them in mutual interaction. It moves beyond grand political and military narratives of history and historiography, focusing instead on history and culture "from below," away from traditional elitism. It encompasses topics such as the history of children, labor, poverty, migration and migrants, women and girls, and civilizational aspects of human life—including tools, household items, food, health, music, art, and historical symbols. Cultural History also encompasses the history of ideas and thought, including mentalities and intellectual trends.
The Iranian society of History and the founders of this journal, recognizing the vast and profound gap in the study of Iran’s cultural history, have launched this quarterly publication. They hope that this journal will draw the attention of Iran’s humanities community to the overlooked and hidden dimensions of Iran’s history. With the unwavering support of officials and researchers in the humanities, history, and culture, it is hoped that the years-long lag in studies on this crucial and significant subject will be remedied.
Therefore, the Quarterly Journal of Cultural History Studies is published with the goal of supporting the production of research articles and elevating the academic level of higher education students/graduates and researchers in the field of Cultural History.
